Berlin Fashion Week Eco Guide (Juli 2012)
Wie schon im Januar haben Fredericke Winkler und Frans Prinz von der Agentur Beyond Berlin auch zur kommenden Fashion Week wieder einen Eco Guide erstellt. Neben den Fachmessen findet ihr auch Events, die für das breite Publikum geöffnet sind. Ein großes DANKESCHÖN nach Berlin!
An alle Einkäufer: Beyond Berlin und auch wir weisen euch darauf hin, dass die hier gelisteten Brands nicht alle 100 % zertifiziert öko und fair sind. Also bitte alles nochmal genau prüfen, bevor ihr etwas bestellt. Das gilt gerade auch für neue Faserarten.

Berlin Fashion Week starts on Tuesday, the 3rd of July, and you’ll be better prepared! To help you find all the green hotspots, we have sorted out the green brands, showrooms and events in the city – you will find it underneath – everything you need to navigate green and glamorous through the days and nights of fashion week. This is just a blog article and not a certification output, so you might still want to talk with the brands about their social and ecological standards before you place your order. And please complain at Bread&Butter and The Gallery, they show green brands but don’t list them and did not respond on our information request.

The tradeshows – the second edition of the Ethical Fashion Show is showing a serious growth of exhibitors, and together with Green Showroom they are presenting about 100 exhibitors now. Meanwhile we see a further decline of green brands at the Premium, and after the InFashion gave up their Berlin edition, also their platform GreenGlamour has disappeared. Together with the showrooms and the shows we estimate the amount of green fashion brands present during Berlin Fashion Week to be about 140. Kuyichi is not present at Bread&Butter, therefore the promise of a women collection of Knowledge Cotton Apparel might be enough reason to make a visit there anyway.
The showrooms – A showroom highlight this time might be the Austrian Upcycling Showroom, showing more then ten Austrian designers who specialized in upcycling. Also in Mitte: Eco Showroom invites professionals with vegan food and make up sessions, and just around the corner you should check out the new collection of Umasan. Down in the Neukölln ghetto there are Scoop and the opening of the new head quarter and shop of the Berlin label Treches. Don’t forget to chill out with Slowmo in Friedrichshain. And for your own green fashion shopping: get dressed at the Pop Up Shop at Ethical Fashion Show and the Berlin concept store Wertvoll.
The events – in Berlin you can easily get the feeling that you’re missing something, and this Fashion Week you have to choose wisely. The central green fashion night will be Thursday evening, with the Cotton Summit at the Ethical Fashion Show, the invited-only Innatex Lounge at Das Hotel and later in the evening the debuting Yeswedo! party in the Berlin club Watergate. Then, there’s the Walk of Change by Christoph Harrach, and the Fashion Trendwalk by Eco Showroom. There’s the shows at Lavera Showfloor, the last show by Esther Perbandt is a good reason to party at the After Show Party on Friday.
